About Me

I am an American PhD based in the US with over 20 years of teaching experience at the university and high school levels. I have extensive writing experience and am highly qualified to tutor you in all aspects of professional and academic English speaking, writing, and reading comprehension. I have lived all over the world and thus I am excited to offer cross-cultural lessons that help ease your transition to an English-speaking institution or corporation.

Describe your teaching and tutoring experience?

1997 - 2018: Undergraduate and Graduate-level teaching: Geography, Environmental Studies, Social Science Teaching Methods, Philosophy

1991-present: Adult education, in Spanish and English, in Honduras/Mexico/USA. Seminars and workshops in environmental subjects.

2018-2019: Business English and other English subjects at Liaoning University for International Business and Economics (Dalian, China)

2018-2019: Independent English tutor, Dalian, China: primary school students and post-graduate business students

2019 (Fall term only): English, Gaoxin #1 High School/Dipont Education, Xian, China

2021: Interim Secondary Principal, High School Teacher (2nd term only) (American Government, Geography, World History) - Washington School, Greenville MS USA

Tell us about yourself. What are your interests outside of school? What else would students enjoy knowing about you?

I love to travel, hike, camp, and watch birds with my partner. I am an avid Scrabble player. In addition to working on contract, I help manage a nature reserve in Pennsylvania, and I also engage in independent scholarship, including research and publishing, in collaboration with other academics.

I am very affable and I have endless patience for students of all skill levels and learning strategies. I adapt to the needs of the students in professional tutoring situations, and I give 100% in my sessions. I am humorous or serious as the situation warrants. I have lived and travelled in many culture and countries during my lifetime, and I pride myself in expertise in cross-cultural communication.
