About Me

I want to focus on teaching Adult and Young Adult. Immigrants and refugees coming to America, English skills that will help them adapt to their new environments and become familiar with using everyday English in a given situation. My experience overseas and within the United States have proven to be valuable tools to help me accomplish my teaching goals and too plan lessons that will meet the needs of my students.

Describe your teaching and tutoring experience?

I lived in China as an ESL teaching(2002-2010) University and Junior students English. My primary lesson plans were based on grammar, Oral English, Listening and Speaking and Reading Comprehension. Since my return to the United States in I've had experience as a English Writing tutor for Freshman High Students and as an ESL for Senior and Young adult immigrants and refugees within the San Jose, CA area.

Tell us about yourself. What are your interests outside of school? What else would students enjoy knowing about you?

Spending time with my Sweetie(wife) brings me joy.

I was raised in a family of eight children and I am number six. Many of my students come from big families. Football and Baseball are my favorite sports. I love to read Historical, Cultural and Biographical books. John Steinbeck, Earnest Hemmingway, Pearl Buck and Jules Verne are some of my favorite authors. Cooking a meal for family and friends. Taking nature walks and enjoying the scenery brings me peace because I love nature.

What makes you an awesome Tutor? Describe any experience, qualifications or strategies here?

As I get to know my students better, I understand their English needs and plan my lessons accordingly.  I am a friendly, patient yet firm teacher. It is important to me to instill confidence in my students when they learn English. They should not be afraid to make mistakes. We learn by mistakes.
