About me

Over the last 30 years, I have taught all grade levels from preschool Exceptional Education to 12th grade, and college level courses. During that time, I have worked with all socioeconomic groups and many different cultures, gaining an empathy and understanding.

I served as a department head, while teaching high school. The department was comprised of approximately 200 students with a wide range of ability levels. I have taught all academic subject areas, with all levels of abilities. Also, while teaching at Monarch High School I instituted the first Post-Graduate Alternatives for Secondary Students (PASS) program, in which I spearheaded a microbusiness that provided coffee and breakfast foods to staff while teaching life skills and vocational skills to special needs students. The money we made from this café was used to fund Community Based Instruction activities for the students. I also started a dance program that served over 1300 students over the course of 13 years. My current teaching certificate includes: English as a Second Language, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Elementary Education, and Middle Grades Mathematics. Before the end of this school year I will have completed my Gifted endorsement; I have had extensive training in Montessori education methodology.
