Describe your teaching and tutoring experience?

I've tutored in-person in the United States, and online with children internationally. I've helped students learn to read by identifying letter sounds and blending words to build sentences. I've also heloed students study and read to learn as their reading skills advanced. Additionally, I taught Spanish at the secondary level, and have led workshops on acting for children.

Tell us about yourself. What are your interests outside of school? What else would students enjoy knowing about you?

I love books and movies, and you can usually find me with a notebook and a pen in my pocket. I love telling and writing stories almost as much as I love learning new ones. My favorite place to go is the cinema, and I love talking about movies. When I'm not reading or watching a movie, I'm spending time with my wife and bulldog, or out for a run.

What makes you an awesome Tutor? Describe any experience, qualifications or strategies here?

I love teaching, and find that it comes quite naturally to me. My biggest strengths as a teacher are my ability to adapt the lessons to each individual student, and my patience. I have a great curiosity for the learning process of each person, so my first classes usually consist of building rapport with my students. Once we've established trust, we move on to identifying learning styles. This helps us make our time very valuable and prevents my students from becoming overly frustrated with the material. I believe that when learning is fun, retention and motivation are significantly higher.
