My name is Bintang Hanson Forero. I was born in Queens, New York, and grew up in Long Island, New York. I have over 20 years of experience as an ESL/EFL teacher. I have a bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts and Early Elementary Education. My Master's degree is in TESOL grades K-12. I received both degrees at CUNY Hunter College in New York City.
In my method of teaching, I always help the students make connections between the lessons being learned and their personal lives. The content being learned is more meaningful this way. I always encourage my students to speak, even if they are not sure how to express themselves correctly. I provide a learning environment that is safe from ridicule and shame. Students are praised for their efforts. This encourages them to participate more often, even for those students who are shy or introverted.
Being an ESL/EFL teacher is not just a job for me. It's always an opportunity to see students grow in their learning and, for some, help make their dreams come true. Teaching is a rewarding experience for me and my students.
